Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in cardiovascular imaging



Special Interests:

Cardiovascular imaging including echo (ultrasound of the heart),; MRI and CT Chest pain and ischaemic heart disease; Cardiomyopathy (heart muscle problems) particularly hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; Valve disease Heart problems associated with thalassaemia and amyloid; Pre-operative heart assessment for non-cardiac surgery; Imaging in Marfan Syndrome


Qualified: University of Cambridge 1998.

Specialist cardiology training from 2003 including a cardiac MRI fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Consultant at Manchester Heart Centre since 2012 with responsibility for rapid access chest pain clinic, stress echo and cardiovascular MRI.

With Dr Kate Ryan have established a combined cardiology/thalassaemia clinic.

Support many adult services at CMFT with imaging including the adult congenital heart disease, regional renal transplant, genetic, anaesthetic and amyloid services.

Work with teams assessing valve and heart muscle problems.

Educational role training medical students, junior doctors and nurse practitioners.

A member of the Regional Cardiac Network.
