Ben Parker

Dr Ben Parker

Consultant Rheumatologist and Honorary Lecturer

Special Interests:

My main clinical and research interest is SLE and the related connective tissue diseases (CTD), and I run a weekly Advanced Therapies in SLE/CTD clinic, part of our tertiary SLE service. I also offer a general rheumatology service, run a transition service with the paediatric rheumatologists, and supervise the biologics service.

I qualified from University of Liverpool in 2000 and after obtaining my MRCP in 2005 I undertook specialist training in rheumatology in Manchester. I secured an Arthritis Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship in 2008 and was awarded my PhD by University of Manchester in 2012. Soon after gaining my CCT in rheumatology I was appointed Consultant Rheumatologist at MRI in July 2013. My research focuses on treatment stratification in SLE, use of biologics in SLE/CTDs, and early phase clinical trials in rheumatology. I am a member of British Isles Lupus Assessment Group (BILAG) and Deputy Director of Training and Education at NIHR/Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility.
