Special Interests:

Clinical, genetic, genomic and psychological predictors of treatment response in rheumatoid arthritis. Susceptibility factors for psoriatic arthritis.


Trained at Manchester University, qualified in 1991 (intercalated in Clinical Biochemistry) followed by MRCP in 1995 and subsequent appointment to a rheumatology training post. Included a part-time MSc Rheumatology from 1996-8, which inspired me to pursue an academic career. Completed a PhD in genetic susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis from 1998-2001. Subsequently awarded CCST in Rheumatology and appointed as an honorary consultant at East Cheshire NHS Trust until 2010 when I moved my clinical commitment to CMFT. My research is based at the Centre for Musculoskeletal research at The University of Manchester.
