Dr Michelle Parr

Consultant Neonatologist and Honorary Lecturer at Salford University

Special Interests:

Medical/Nursing Education; Clinical Governance.

I began my medical training at St Catherine's College, Cambridge, completing my BA in Clinical Psychology prior to moving to Addenbrooke's Hospital where I qualified as a doctor in 1994. I then soon developed an interest in Paediatrics, moving out of East Anglia to Leeds and becoming increasingly involved in Neonatology.

I undertook a Masters in Child Health at the University of Leeds, being involved in research in gut immune function in the preterm infant. I completed my Higher Specialist Training in Neonatology with a short period back in Cambridge at the Rosie Maternity Hospital, before taking up a consultant post in the North West .

My first consultant post was at South Manchester University Hospital, where I practiced for three years before moving to my current position as a Neonatal Consultant at Saint Mary's Hospital.

I am currently an Honorary Lecturer at Salford University and lead clinician for the Newborn Intensive Care Module.  In addition, I have an active role in governance and clinical effectiveness within our unit and the wider Neonatal Network.
