Pre-operative Services

All patients undergoing surgery are required to undergo a pre-operative assessment.  This is to ensure that we are appropriately planned for your procedure and that you are fit for your surgery.

You will be seen by one of our pre-op nurses in a pre-operative assessment clinic.  You may also be required to attend the ward the day prior to your surgery for additional blood tests.  It is important that you attend these appointments, so that we can plan effectively for your surgery and avoid any unnecessary delays on the day of your surgery.

We recognise that having an operation can be a stressful experience for any patient. We aim to make your theatre experience as stress-free as we can.  We will talk you through each step of the process and ensure you are involved. You can ask us any questions.  Our aim is to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible following surgery and that all appropriate pain relief is offered as is considered safe to do so.

We pride ourselves on offering safe care throughout your procedure to help support you on your way to recovery.

Please also visit our Theatres page for more information.
