Saint Mary's Theatres undertakes a wide variety of gynaecological surgical procedures.

As a specialist tertiary referral centre in the North West, we specialise in offering high quality care for women requiring surgery for endometriosis, uro-gynaecology and gynaecological oncology. We also specialise in supporting women undergoing fertility treatments.

Alongside these, we undertake routine gynaecological surgical procedures: miscarriage, termination of pregnancy and gynaecological emergencies.

We have three state-of-the-art, highly equipped theatres supporting our gynaecology service and one supporting fertility treatments.

We see women from across the whole of the North West region.

We liaise closely with the Christie Hospital where women may be receiving other treatment.

Alongside our gynaecology service, we have two dedicated well-equipped obstetric theatres.  We are one of the three North West tertiary centres for obstetrics.  We have additional expertise in managing complex obstetric cases and managing obstetric emergencies, supported by a highly skilled team of consultants, specialist anaesthetists, theatre practitioners and midwives.

All our theatres are supported by a dedicated and experienced team of consultants, anaesthetists and theatre practitioners.

We recently won the Saint Mary's Award for Innovation and Improvement and a national, NHS Lean Academy award, for the managing an efficient theatre suite.

We were the pilot site for the NHS Institute of Innovation and Improvement for The Productive Operating Theatre and we have had several external visits to review our work and innovative practice.

Our obstetric service has been followed as part of the television series, "The Midwives" and in 2012, the BBC have commissioned a further programme following the role of the midwife which includes Saint Mary's Theatres.

Our theatres are managed by Angela Williams, Theatre Matron.

We have put together a series of FAQs which may help you.

Our philosophy is Patients First Every Time, All of the Time.
