Our neonatal unit has bedrooms for parents who wish to stay
overnight to be close to their baby. Unfortunately the
numbers are small, so priority will be given to:
- To mums who are establishing breast feeding.
- To mums rooming in with their babies prior to discharge.
- To parents whose baby is extremely poorly.
If you would like to stay on the unit overnight, please ask the
nurse who is looking after your baby. You will be given
further information if you do room in, and will be asked to sign a
contract which details the conditions of your stay.
For parents who live a long way from the unit we also have
access to Ronald McDonald House,
which provides free 'home away from home' accommodation to
families with children receiving treatment at Royal Manchester
Children's Hospital and Saint Mary's Newborn Intensive Care Unit. A
referral form is completed on admission and families will be put on
a waiting list. There are 60 en-suite rooms over five floors and
the building is equipped with everything a family needs to feel at
home including communal areas, lounges, self-catering kitchens,
dining areas, playrooms, laundry facilities, a teenager room and
