The research portfolio in Saint Mary's Hospital is
extensive and includes genetic medicine, gynaecological cancer,
fertility, pregnancy disorders and fetal health. Saint Mary's
researchers are investigating ways to reduce pregnancy
complications, increase fertility, and detect and treat
gynaecological cancers. The North West's major centre for Genetic
Medicine is based in the Trust; research focuses on discovering the
causes of developmental abnormalities in children, on complex
diseases such as inherited cancers and also on developing the best
treatments and services for people with genetic disorders.
