Manchester Health Academy

Our Trust is the lead sponsor of the Manchester Health Academy

New SchoolAcademies are part of the government's plans to improve children's performance at school.Manchester's academies provide more than an academic education. Through close links to business and employers, they strive to raise aspirations and help young people develop confidence in their abilities and optimism in their future. This new approach is designed to create more resilient young people, equipped with both the practical and emotional skills they need to cope with the challenges of living in the city.

How academy sponsorship works

Sponsors are members of the MHA trust board who work in partnership with local people, the existing schools and young people to develop the Academy's proposal. Through their connections in business, enterprise and community activities, the sponsors provide an exciting range of opportunities for young people at the Academy to learn both in the classroom and the work place.

The main sponsors for the Manchester Health Academy are: Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Manchester College and Manchester City Council. The academies also benefit from support from key organisations within the sports, health and fitness industries, including the Manchester United Foundation.

Message from our Chairman:

"We are proud and excited to be the first NHS organisation to be a lead sponsor of a health academy. As well as providing benefits to the local people of Wythenshawe it will also have an impact on Manchester as a whole. The Academy has a focus on health, sport and wellbeing, something which we as an organisation are keen to promote and support."
